Description:

This position will report to Legal Services Administrator. This position provides an opportunity for a SUU student to supplement their formal education with hands-on experience in using multimedia and graphic design applications and programs to provide training, information, and visual education in higher education administration.

The Multimedia and Design Student Intern will be exposed to and contribute to real-world applications and practical solutions for using multimedia in the higher education legal environment. Higher education includes numerous areas of the law, including constitutional law, employment law, student conduct, contracts, risk management, intellectual property, and privacy, among others. The Multimedia and Design Student Intern will assist the members of the SUU Office of Legal Affairs in creating multimedia to educate, inform, and support initiatives in these areas and on projects, among other duties.

This position does not require a Multimedia and Design Student Intern to have any particular certifications or license. This is not a legal professional position, but will aid the attorneys and Legal Office Administrator in creating multimedia content for online display and display during presentations. Multimedia and Design Student Interns may see or hear information that is privileged under law. Multimedia and Design Student Interns will understand that they are under the same confidentiality and ethics requirements as the attorneys.

Multimedia and Design Student Interns will perform tasks as assigned. Multimedia and Design Student Interns will be subject to all SUU policies and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Enrolled in the Professional Internship Program at SUU;
  • Enrolled at and pursuing a degree at SUU;
  • Demonstrate ability to perform research and analysis at a basic level;
  • Strong academic credentials and writing skills;
  • Proficiency with adobe creative cloud and the following apps: Indesign, Canva, Google Slides and/or PowerPoint, Illustrator, and Acrobat DC
  • Ability to keep information strictly confidential.

Preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace;
  • A strong desire to listen, learn and develop analytical, writing, and practical legal skills;
  • Interest in higher education law;
  • Excellent listening, communication, and project management skills;
  • Ability to multi-task in a face-paced environment;
  • Able to commit to required hours per week for the academic year;
  • Able to reorganize/transform information into a visual representation following SUU Branding guidelines; and
  • Able to design, draft, and develop graphic elements and illustrations.
